My answer was simple. We get in our own way so much in business - and it's generally got a lot to do with our stories from our past. When we get in our own way in business, our values, our beliefs, our stories we tell ourselves, our habits, our actions are all influenced by our mood, our attitude, how we feel.
When we are upbeat our business has a greater chance at success. We have a greater propensity for believing in the possibilities. And that means we will put ourselves forward for things in business more often when we are feeling good about ourselves.
Now turn that around. When we are feeling low, depressed, fed up we are more inclined to hide, to avoid things, to stick our head in the sand over business matters. This means we will be less likely to put ourselves forward for things when we are feeling bad about ourselves.
So what does depression have to do with business? A great deal - and the more prepared you are to deal with your emotions, the greater chance your business has to be the success you dream for it.
