The truth is I can't tell you the answer. Why? Because success is something different for every one of us. For your dad it might have been staying in the same job until he retired, for your neighbour it might be leaving their job and setting up their gardening business, for your best friend maybe it's having 3 happy, healthy and well-balanced kids, and for your partner it's about earning enough to look after the family .... what is it for you?
In truth, success is about the lives we touch, the changes we impact on that improve the lives of others.
The journey to success starts with understanding what you are working towards. Once you've got an idea of that, stretch it a little. And remember to be specific. If you find yourself saying that you want to get 'more' clients, specify how many 'more' actually is, if you want to earn more money, be precise and decide on an amount.
Choose an end point that you are aiming for so that you know how you will know when you are successful. Maybe it's to work just 20 hours a week, or to earn a specific amount of money, or perhaps it's about helping people with a particular need or problem.
Now that you know what you're working towards, how is that goal going to impact on the lives of others? What problem will you overcome for them, what pleasures will you bring for them?
Now, the important bit. It's not enough to have an end point in mind - you have to work towards your goal too. So start working on taking actions that get you to your end point. If you're too busy working on other things, ask yourself "will this get me to my goal?" If the answer is yes, great, keep doing it. If the answer is no .... you know where we're going with this - stop doing it! What are you doing spending time on things that are not getting you to your success goal?
Your success is on the horizon - let's get working towards it!
